Retired Americans
Extend Best Wishes to Senator
Kennedy
The following statement was issued
today by George J. Kourpias, President of the
Alliance for Retired Americans.
“On behalf of the 3.5 million members of the Alliance for Retired Americans, I want to extend our thoughts and prayers to Senator Edward M. Kennedy and his family during this difficult time. We all join together in wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
“Older Americans have no greater friend than Senator Kennedy. His lifetime of public service has preserved, and often strengthened, retirement security in America.
“Senator Kennedy is a great champion toward building an America in which every worker can one day retire with dignity and peace of mind. He was one of the first to see access to quality, affordable health care as a basic human right, and he is an inspiring leader in legislative efforts to enact health care for all.
“The Alliance for Retired Americans has long appreciated the great works of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. We look forward to his strong leadership for many years to come.”
